We know rugs are an investment, and fit really matters — please get in touch if you’re unsure before ordering
Is it waterproof/breathable?
Yes! The Cool Heat Horse Rug has a 1200 denier ripstop outer waterproof sheet with an inside cotton lining. Inside features rows of soft flexible synthetic insulators which lift the rug 12mm (1/2 inch) off the horse’s body allowing air to circulate over the entire body.
My TBs currently in his 4th winter wearing his & it’s still waterproof :)
How does it help with temperature regulation?
Other horse rugs flatten the horse’s hair trapping heat and sweat having the potential to cause unhealthy & uncomfortable skin. The Cool Heat Horse Rug lifts the rug up off the horses back which allows the arrector pilli muscle to lift & contract each hair follicle allowing the horse to regulate its own body temperature.
Can I exchange it if it doesn't fit?
No problem! We offer 14-day returns & exchanges on items in new, resalable condition with original undamaged packaging. Return postage just needs to be covered by purchaser. Best idea is to pop an old sheet over your horse before trying on the rug for the first time to keep it pristine.
How do I wash it?
They are not machine washable. To clean the outside, wash off any mud with a soft wet cloth, or wait until your rug is dry & brush off with a soft brush.
The orange insulators need to be cleaned with a wet cloth every few months. If you notice a build-up of dirt, wipe clean with a warm wet cloth. If the dirt is left to build up it will prevent the smooth insulator from sliding over the hair.
Does it rub?
In most cases the Cool Heat Horse Rug causes no rubbing, yet horses come in different shapes and sizes. The Cool Heat horse rug can be self-adjusted by unpicking and removing any insulator which may be rubbing.
It is simple to unpick an insulator and does not affect the performance of the rug.
This allows every type of horse conformation to fit the rug.
Also ensure you have the correct size as a size that is too small could cause rubbing.
Can I use it after exercise or when my horse is wet?
Absolutely. If you don’t beat the rain home, simply scrape off excess water & put this rug directly onto your wet horse. Also after exercising you’re able to hose off a sweaty horse, scrape off excess water & rug.
As the hair follicle can move under the rug (instead of being flattened like a conventional rug) moisture can naturally wick off, resulting in a clean & dry horse.
What size should I choose if my horse is often between sizes?
In my experience with my three horses I would choose the larger size but feel free to get in touch & send through pics of your horse & I can best advise.
